February 17, 2007

We had watched a movie today on people and belifes in India. One fact that i had learned was that Indian people belive it holy to bath in the Ganges river. It is one of the most poluted rivers. Its length is 1,557 mi long! There are also two kinds of dolphin in the Ganges river there uis the river dolphin and the irrawaddy dolphin. But besides the river lets learn a little more about the people there.I had learned from the movie that educated people in India speak english well. Also the people there consider cows holy! They also have a god of death they call him Shiua. In India they have train stations and they have compartments in them that fit only about 4 people. There also is a very famous palace called the Taj Mahal. The shah that had lived there had,had his wife die , so he decided to build a huge palace and had his wife buried under the foundation of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built in 1621. Now lets talk about hindu ceremonies . Hindu people have a god called Krishna. The hindu people find face painting symbolic. So now you know what i have learned from the movie we saw in class today! this is a picture of the Taj Mahal and the Ganges river! Also a river dolphin!
